A landmark in South African reggae, Prisoner was released during a pivotal time in the country’s history, resonating with themes of freedom and justice. The album broke records, selling over 100,000 copies in its first week and surpassing a million to date, with over 100 million global streams. It also marked a musical evolution for Dube, introducing brass elements into his reggae sound.
