Holocene is the ninth studio album by German progressive metal collective The Ocean. Released on May 19, 2023, it marks a departure from the band’s heavier post-metal sound, leaning more into electronic textures and atmospheric arrangements while maintaining their signature depth and intensity. This album concludes the Paleozoic–Phanerozoic series, thematically exploring the Holocene epoch—our current geological era—through introspective and existential lyricism.
