FANGS – Boxset

​The “FANGS” boxset, curated by Mongrel Records, is a compilation series spotlighting the vibrant and diverse heavy music scene across Africa, with a particular emphasis on South African talent. Each volume assembles a selection of tracks from both established and emerging artists, offering listeners a comprehensive experience of the continent’s metal and rock prowess.

FANGS Volume 1 features 14 explosive tracks from acclaimed South African bands such as Ruff Majik, Deity’s Muse, Boargazm, Hellcats, and The Drift, alongside up-and-coming acts like Savage Lucy, Peasant, and Goat Throne. This collection serves as a powerful introduction to the energy and creativity defining Africa’s heavy music landscape. ​

FANGS Volume 2 continues the journey with another 14 tracks, showcasing bands like Facing The Gallows, Papang, Dividing The Element, Ill System, and Monstroid. This volume further explores the depth and diversity of the African metal scene, featuring a range of styles from hardcore to stoner rock. ​

FANGS Volume 3 offers 14 songs, including “Unleash the Kraken” by Mythos, “Shrug of the Year” by Ruff Majik, “Strata” by Hiraeth, “Psychonaut 1400” by Acid Magus, and “It’s Over, Jehovah” by Sundergeist. This volume continues to highlight the evolving sounds within the African heavy music community.
