Metallica – Master of Puppets
Master of Puppets is Metallica’s groundbreaking third studio album, released on March 3, 1986. Widely regarded as one of the greatest heavy metal albums of all time, it showcases the band’s signature blend of thrash aggression, complex compositions, and socially charged lyrics. This was the last Metallica album to feature bassist Cliff Burton, who tragically passed away in a bus accident later that year. The album’s title track became an anthem of metal, and the record as a whole cemented Metallica’s status as pioneers of the genre.
In 2024, Master of Puppets was reissued as a limited edition 180g ‘Battery Brick’ colored vinyl, featuring the 2017 remastered audio. This exclusive pressing was part of a series where Universal Music Group reissued 11 of Metallica’s studio albums on custom colored vinyl for the first time internationally. Phase one included the first five albums, released monthly from November 2023 to March 2024. The exact number of copies pressed worldwide for the ‘Battery Brick’ edition has not been publicly disclosed.
